Jeff Bridges had lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system.
Jeff Bridges announced on Twitter on October 19, 2020, that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system.
The 72-year-old actor wrote: “As the Dude would say.. New S**T has come to light”.
“I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good”.
On September 12, 2021, he announced his cancer was in remission; “My cancer is in remission — the 9×12 [inch; 230 mm × 300 mm] mass has shrunk down to the size of a marble”.
But “Covid kicked my (expletive) pretty good,” he wrote. The actor opined that he was exposed to the virus in January at the place where he received his chemotherapy infusions.
In an interview with People regarding the health difficulties he faced in the last year and a half, Jeff Bridges disclosed the battle with COVID-19 while going through chemotherapy for lymphoma left him “pretty close to dying,”.
Adding that, he needed oxygen assistance while walking. “I was pretty close to dying. The doctors kept telling me, ‘Jeff, you’ve got to fight. You’re not fighting.’ I was in surrender mode,” he recalled. “I was ready to go. I was dancing with my mortality.”
Jeff Bridges’ medical team found luck with convalescent plasma, treatment with plasma from donors who have recovered from COVID-19, containing the virus’ antibodies and he survived.
“Who would say, ‘I’d love some cancer and give me a dose of COVID? But my ability to receive all the love and give it was just heightened,” he stated. “Everything was turned up in the most beautiful way”.
