Jean Currivan Trebek is a businesswoman, and the wife of the legendary TV show host, Alex Trebek. She has worked as a real estate project manager, and had some fame of her own before marrying to Alex. She is 23 years younger than her husband, but they appear happy together, and now live in Los Angeles, California.
Early life and family
Jean was born on 3 September 1963, in New York City, Ne. Not much is known about her parents or siblings if she has any. She was raised in Huntington, Long Island and from what could be gathered, had a normal childhood.
Educational background and Career
Jean matriculated from Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, New York. After this, Jean went on to apparently build herself a very successful career in real estate. She was a project manager by the time she met Alex. It is not clear if she continued to build on her career after the wedding, which took place in Los Angeles.

Relationship with Alex Trebek
Alex and Jean married on 30 April in 1990 when he was 49 years old and she was 26. He had proposed to her on her birthday, 3 September.
Just a month before their special day, Alex bought land in Hollywood Hills where he built their marital home. Their age gap was apparently a worry at first, but they learnt to look past it and build a happy marriage.
Their wedding day was attended by 150 guests, making it a very small affair for such a famous and wealthy man as Alex. Los Angeles’ Regency Club was chosen as the venue.
Before their marriage, Alex was married to former Playboy Bunny Elaine Callei. He raised her daughter Nicky as his own, but the two divorced in 1981. He met Jean at a party and invited her to dinner. Although she was nervous about dating Alex, the two of them grew close and he proposed when she turned 26. He gave her a pair of velvet pants and a matching jacket as her birthday gift. Then Alex surprised her with a massive ring in a handmade wicker basket – a sapphire surrounded by diamonds.
Alex claims that Jean burst into tears upon seeing the ring.
Who is Alex Trebek?
He was born George Alexander Trebek, and is a Canadian-American. Many know Alex as the host of the popular game show ‘Jeopardy’ – before hosting the epic show, he started a career in the TV industry after finishing college. At first, he was a news reporter for CBC, then went on to host many game shows, such as ‘Concentration’, ‘Double Dare’, ‘Battlestars’ and ‘High Rollers’. He is now battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Children
Three weeks after tying the knot, Jean found out that she was expecting her first child. They went on to have two – son Matthew was born in 1990 and daughter Emily in 1993.
The couple have kept their children out of the limelight for the most part, and apparently neither of them desire a career in the entertainment industry. In 2015, Emily graduated from Loyola Marymount College, and followed in her mother’s footsteps aiming for a career in the real estate world.
Her father helped her with her first house. In 2013, Matthew graduated from Fordham College with a degree in philosophy, but went on to become a restaurant owner in New York. His restaurant was focused on Mexican food and he named it ‘Oso’. Jean invested in and helped Matthew set it up, while at first Alex wasn’t at all supportive of his son’s career move, but eventually came around.
