JaVale Lindy’s McGee is an American professional basketball player who now plays for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association. He played collegiate basketball for the Nevada Wolf Pack before being drafted 18th overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2008 NBA draft.

McGee is a three-time NBA champion, having won titles with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018, and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. McGee won a gold medal with the United States Olympic team in addition to his professional career.

McGee made Wizards history in 2011 by being the first player to compete in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. He came in second to Blake Griffin, but his use of three balls in one dunk established a Guinness World Record for the most basketballs dunked in a single jump.

He was also chastised for his erroneous shots in a game against the Chicago Bulls in 2011, in which he scored 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 blocks for his first career triple-double.

Despite the ups and downs of his professional basketball career, McGee’s talent and tenacity have helped him win three NBA championships and an Olympic gold medal.
