Jason Segel was born on January 18, 1980 in Los Angeles, Angeles, California to a Jewish father, Alvin Segel, a lawyer, and mother, Jillian Segel, a stay-at-home mom. Jason is the second in a family of three, with a younger sister, Alison, and an older brother, Adam.
He attended the private St. Matthew’s Episcopal Parish School, after which he moved to Harvard-Westlake School, where he made a name for himself as a talented basketball player. With an impressive body build and a height of 6ft 4in, he was an integral part of the 1996/1997 CIF champion men’s basketball team. His dunking prowess earned him the nickname Dr. Dunk.
His foray into acting came with his role as NickAndopolis on NBC’s short-lived series Freaks and Geeks. The series was successful, and he landed recurring roles on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, as Neil Jansen. He played Marshall Eriksen on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother.
Jason also continued his impressive streak of movie success, “I Love You, Man” where he played the role of a groom who is about to get married but has no best friend to be the best man. He starred alongside Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz in the comedy Bad Teacher.
In 2011, Jason Segel received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards, as well as the Critics Choice Award for Best Song for The Muppets.

It’s fair to say that Jason has had a checkered history with women. Although he prefers to keep his love life very secretive, his propensity to date other celebrities hasn’t helped his quest for secrecy. Jason dated actress Linda Cardellini for six years. They started in March 2001 after meeting on set. Both men were co-stars in Dead Man on Campus (1998) and Freaks and Geeks (1999). After Jason and Michelle broke up in 2013, he had a relationship with Michelle Trachtenberg. Currently, Jason is dating photographer Alexis Minter. She is a sister of actress Whitney Minter.
As always, no one was quite sure who Jason Segel was in a relationship until he announced their relationship in January 2016 at Sean Penn’s Help From Haiti fundraiser in Los Angeles. His bosses at Universal Studios sent a trainer to prepare and ensured he was training twice a day. The trainer also had a mandate to monitor Segel’s eating habits.
In typical funny man style, Jason figured out creative ways to quench his raging appetite on set. Seeing that he had to act as the chef in certain scenes of the film, he tricked his co-stars into staggering so that the scenes would repeat so he could eat again.
