Japan Tourist Visa Eligibility &
Requirements
- Laotians visiting Japan can apply for a tourist visa. This is a short-term visa that allows foreigners to visit Japan for sightseeing, tourism, visiting friends and relatives.
- A valid passport with at least six months validity and two blank visa pages is required to visit Japan.
- A completed visa application form, a recent coloured passport photo and a certified copy of tourist’s birth certificate are required.
- Travelers who are married are expected to submit a copy of their marriage certificate.
- Laotians visiting Japan on a tourist visa must have the intention to leave Japan as soon as their stay period expires.
- Proof of financial ability showing you can support yourself financially during your stay in Japan is needed.
- Applicants are expected to submit their tax returns.
- Laotians visiting Japan are required to provide a certificate of their financial situation for the previous 6 months issued by the bank.
- If applying without a sponsor, a copy of your Certificate of Employment must be submitted.
- Travelers are required to provide a schedule and travel plans for their trip.
- Foreigners visiting Japan can apply for a single-entry visa, double-entry visa or a multiple-entry visa.
- A single-entry visa is valid for a duration of 3 months and its validity can not be extended.
- A double-entry visa has a validity period of 6 months from the date of issuance.
- Multiple-entry visas are usually valid for a period of 1 to 5 years depending on the applicant’s nationality, the purpose of visit and passport type.

Requirements
- Japan’s work visa is a visa issued to Laotian with high-level performance or skills traveling to Japan for Employment purposes.
- A completely signed work visa application is required.
- A recently taken passport photo with a plain or white background of 4cm x 3cm in size.
- A valid passport with at least 2 blank visa pages and six months validity period.
- Laotians visiting Japan on a work visa are required to get the following documents:
- Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Japanese ministry of justice.
- A letter of authorization from the employer.
- An employment letter.
- Proof of travel arrangement.
- A copy of a valid government ID from your home country to show proof of state residency.
- A letter from your employee stating your position and expected salary.
- A curriculum vitae and your degree or diploma certificates.
- Laotians visiting Japan on a 3-month tourist visa are not allowed to work in Japan.
- Laotians visiting Japan as a musician or accompanying technical staff to perform at a concert for a limited period need a certificate of eligibility in order to obtain a work visa.
Japan Student Visa Eligibility &
Requirements
- Japan student visa is a visa issued to Laotians who have intentions to study in Japan.
- A passport that remains valid after the expiration of your student visa with two blank visa pages is required.
- Proof of admission from the school in Japan is needed.
- A flight itinerary or proof of flight reservation.
- A recently taken passport photo.
- Diploma certificate, high school transcripts or a graduating transcript that shows academic accomplishments.
- A recent bank statement showing your ability to pay for your expenses for your first year in Japan is required. It is recommended that applicants have up to ¥2,000,000 in their bank account.
- Evidence of payment for accommodation and tuition is required.
- Sponsored applicants are required to bring their sponsor’s recent bank statement to show proof of sufficient funds to cover their study year or first study year in Japan.
- They are also expected to bring a signed letter from their sponsors, stating their intention to sponsor applicant’s education and other expenses throughout the duration of studies in Japan.
- A copy of the sponsor’s passport and birth certificate should also be provided.
Japan Transit Visa Eligibility &
Requirements
- Japan transit visa is usually issued to travelers proceeding to another country through Japan.
- A valid passport properly signed by the bearer and a passport photo attached to the Japan transit visa application form is required.
- Flight itinerary issued by the travel agency or airline company.
- Visa to the next destination country must be attached to the passport at the time of application.
- Applicants are to show proof of sufficient funds or letter of guarantee from a friend or relative in Japan if the stay period exceeds 24 hours.
- Laotians visiting Japan on transit visa are not allowed to tour as activities such as sightseeing and leisure are limited.
