Thora Janette Scott (born 14 December 1938) is an English actress who has appeared in a number of films. She was born in the Lancashire town of Morecambe. Her parents are performers Jimmy Scott and Thora Hird, and she is their daughter. As Janette Scott, she began her acting career as a child actress in the early 1950s. She was also, for a brief period, one of the so-called “Children’s Announcers,” providing continuity links for the BBC’s children’s television programmes broadcast from the Lime Grove Studios in the early 1950s, alongside Jennifer Gay.
As a leading woman, she was well-liked, with one of her most well-known parts being April Smith in the 1960 film School for Scoundrels, which was based on the Stephen Potter novels of the same name, in which Ian Carmichael and Terry-Thomas fought for her affections. Scott began writing her autobiography when she was fourteen years old.
