Janet Tyburski pleaded guilty to killing her own daughter.

Post the death of Janet Tyburski’s husband in a car accident in 1999; the newly single mom was shattered. She saw the ways of her daughters Hannah and Shelly change.

Originally from Lakewood, Ohio, the Tyburski family had a good life before Janet’s husband and father of their son and two daughters, Rachele, better known as Shelly, and Hannah passed away.

Shelly’s life was impacted more by their father’s death, Darrell Tyburski, than the younger sister’s. Shelly was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, while Hannah thrived in her studies and high school athletics.

Janet’s mother-in-law, Danusia Tyburski, said in a statement to Fox8 that Janet had struggled to raise her children after her husband died in a vehicle accident. Despite the fact that Hannah and Janet had a good mother-daughter relationship, Janet’s relationship with Shelly was not.

Shelly had run away from home two times, and in her early twenties, she became engaged with a musician in his late forties who, at the time, also had a son.

Where Is The Daughter Killer Today? Charges Explained

Janet had initially denied any involvement in her daughter’s death during questioning. She told the cops that the last time she saw Shelly was when she left the house to meet up with some friends. Surveillance footage and interview responses proved Janet’s involvement in Shelly’s killing during the investigation. After a few weeks of questioning, Janet was brought into police custody on May 5, 2015.

While in jail, Janet admitted to choking Shelly to death and confessed to the murder. She also explained how she had left Shelly’s body in their house for two days before enlisting the help of her younger daughter, Hannah, to transport the body to a field.

Hannah, who was a 19-year-old Oberlin College student at the time, was charged with corpse abuse and later pled guilty. Hannah was fined $750 in April 2017, and her 90-day jail sentence was suspended by the judge who heard her case.

Janet made a plea deal in April 2017, over two years after the occurrence, in exchange for the murder charges against her being withdrawn. After pleading guilty to one crime of corpse abuse, one count of evidence tampering, two charges of assault, and two counts of murder, she was sentenced to 19 years in prison.

According to the Cleveland news, Janet is currently completing her sentence in the Lorain County Jail, while Hannah’s whereabouts are unknown.
