Janet Protasiewicz Family Background and Married Life With Patrick Madden

Janet Protasiewicz family consists of husband Greg Sell and stepchildren from a former marriage. Janet was previously married to judge Patrick Madden.

Judge Janet is a Wisconsin judge currently campaigning to get elected in the state’s Supreme Court. She is competing against Dan Kelly, a nominee backed by the Republic Party.

In the last few days, we have noticed a series of accusations going back and forth among the candidates. While Dan has accused Janet of being biased for the Democratic cause, his opponent has accused Kelly of using shady techniques to discredit her.

Janet recently made history after collecting over $12.4 from donations, the largest sum amassed in a campaign in Wisconsin. Meanwhile, her opponent Dan raised just $2.2 million, a fraction of the sum collected by Janet’s campaign.

Protasiewicz received her law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1988. As of 2023, she has over 35 years of experience as an attorney. She also served as Milwaukee’s Assistant District Attorney for over 25 years.

During her career as a lawyer, Janet has presided over cases related to domestic violence, sexual assault, homicide, misdemeanor, and drugs.

Janet Protasiewicz Is Married To Greg Sell

Janet Protasiewicz family includes her husband and stepchildren from former partner Patrick Madden.

Janet has been married to Wisconsin lawyer Greg Sell for over 15 years. The couple exchanged their wedding vows on January 13, 2008.

Protasiewicz and her partner currently reside in Franklin, Wisconsin. The pair mostly keeps a low-key married life and doesn’t appear much in public.

Greg played a crucial role in Janet’s appointment to the position of Milwaukee County Judge in 2014. He regularly appeared in her campaign and even swayed a few votes in her favor.

Previously, Janet married now-deceased Wisconsin judge Patrick Madden in 1997. At the time, Protasiewicz was 34 years old, whereas her partner was 70. The former couple was married for less than a year.

After her marriage to Patrick, Janet became stepmother to his three children: Michael Madden, Mark Madden, and Sheila Anne Casey. Among the three, Michael lived with the couple for the entirety of their marriage.

Janet’s connection with the Madden family is turning out to be a hurdle for her 2023 campaign to become a judge of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Her former stepchildren have laid down a series of allegations against her, ranging from her conservative alliance to domestic violence.

Michael first brought the accusations claiming he saw Janet slapping his father on more than one occasion. His allegations were supported by a family friend named Jonathan Ehr who also claimed to be a witness to the physical assault by Protasiewicz.

Meanwhile, Janet has denied the domestic violence claims; she will be taking the necessary legal measures after the end of the election.

Further, her former stepchildren have also accused the judge of lying about her political alliance. They mentioned that she was pro-life and anti-immigration during her marriage to Madden.

The Madden family members added that their father was a well-known conservative. And, he would not have married Janet if she was a liberal.

Janet Protasiewicz Claims To Be Liberal

Judge Janet Protasiewicz political party affiliation is suspected to be with the Democratic Party. Despite calling herself a liberal, she has never revealed any direct alliance with the Democrats.

Janet is a candidate for a non-partisan position, so she should not be directly in support of a specific political party. However, her stance on abortion and immigration policies portray her to share the same ideology as the Democratic party.

During her 2023 campaign for a Wisconsin Supreme Court judge, Protasiewicz has raised over $12.4 million. About two-thirds of the amount was donated by different committees of the Democratic Party.

While Janet has vowed to recuse herself from cases brought forward by or related to the party, she has been clear about different issues that are openly supported by the left.

For instance, she has made a significant effort to portray herself as pro-choice. She has openly voiced her opinions on the matter of abortion and has vowed to establish women’s rights to control their bodies.

Further, Janet has also claimed to be against traditional Christian values. However, she was a member of the Board of Directors of the St. Josaphat Basilica Foundation up until 2020. The foundation’s website mentions her to be an active member of the board.

Protasiewicz has been labeled an opportunist and a threat to justice due to the shift in her political alliance.
