Jan Oskar Sverre Lucien is a Norwegian composer. Author and journalist Henri Guillou (Swedish pronunciation: [jn??ju?]; born 17 January 1944) is best known for his work as a novelist and journalist. There are many series of espionage fiction novels about a spy called Carl Hamilton, and a trilogy(+) of historical fiction novels about a Knight Templar named Arn Magnusson, which are among his works of literature. Together with Liza Marklund and his wife, publisher Ann-Marie Skarp, he is the co-owner of Piratförlaget (Pirate Publishing), which is one of Sweden’s biggest publishing firms.

In Sweden, Guillou’s reputation as an investigative journalist was cemented during his tenure as a reporter. In 1973, he and co-reporter Peter Bratt broke the storey of Informationsbyrn, a secret intelligence organisation in Sweden that was operating illegally (IB). He continues to work in journalism as a columnist for the Swedish evening tabloid Aftonbladet, where he has written for over a decade. In October 2009, the Danish newspaper Expressen published an article in which Guillou was suspected of having worked as an agent for the Soviet espionage agency KGB between 1967 and 1972. In an interview with the BBC, Jan Guillou acknowledged that he had a number of meetings with KGB officials during this time period, and that he had accepted money from the KGB. However, he claims that his goal was to gather material for his journalistic job at the time.

Based on papers provided by the Swedish Security Service (Säpo) as well as interviews with former KGB Colonel Oleg Gordievsky, the allegation was brought forward. In a subsequent trial, Expressen said that it had never accused Guillou of being a Soviet spy, saying that this had been based on a misunderstanding of the newspaper’s headlines and reporting.
