James Flynn, an Irish film producer, passed away. The Irish Times announced his death at the age of 57 but gave no further information.
Flynn was a member of the reformed Irish Film Board and is credited with working on John Michael McDonagh’s Calvary, Veronica Guerin, and Angela’s Ashes by Alan Parker.
The announcement comes as Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin, on which Flynn served as co-producer, has received nine Oscar nominations for the Academy Awards that will be held later this month.
Flynn worked on Sweety Barrett with Oscar-nominated producer Ed Guiney more than twenty years ago, and Guiney recalled Flynn for the Irish Times.
Flynn Wilson and Juanita Wilson formed Metropolitan Films in 1997. Since then, the company has worked on more than 80 feature films and television shows.
