Perhaps facing jail time for his part in a car accident that claimed the lives of two people, including a teammate, was a highly regarded collegiate football player who was predicted to be selected among the top five picks in the NFL draft.
Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Jalen Carter is charged with racing and careless driving that led to the collision on January 15th. The police have issued an arrest warrant for him.
In a statement sent to Twitter, Carter stated that he anticipated receiving a full pardon. Authorities claim that when the accident happened, he was racing in a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk at a high rate of speed.
The collision killed Chandler LeCroy, the team’s recruiting analyst, and Carter’s colleague Devin Willock. Toxicology results revealed that LeCroy was driving a Ford Expedition at speeds over 100 mph and had a blood alcohol percentage more than twice the legal limit.
According to the police, both vehicles were switching lanes, driving in the center turn lane, driving in opposite lines of traffic, passing other motorists, and driving at high speeds in an apparent attempt to outpace each other. Two other Georgia football players were also injured in the incident.
