17-year-old Jack Alkhatib of Irmo died at a local hospital Tuesday after collapsing at practice.
The sad demise of Jack Alkhatib happened on Tuesday, 25 August 2021.
The news comes just two days after the death of the young athlete. Alkhatib was practicing with the team Tuesday afternoon when he collapsed.
Jack Alkhatib was rushed to Prisma Health-Parkridge where doctors pronounced him dead a short time later.
No cause of death was announced by the coroner, and the district did not disclose the circumstances surrounding Alkhatib’s collapse at the Irmo school.
A tribute memorial has been placed on the Dutch Fork football field. Dutch Fork High School is also suspending all football operations until Sunday, August 29.
