Is Taron Egerton Gay? What Is His Age And How Tall Is He?

The 2014 film Kingsman: The Secret Service and the 2019 musical, Rocketman, are the films that Taron Egerton is most known for. The former is his first big performance on screen after he kicked off his career four years earlier. After playing Eggsy, a streetwise kid who becomes a gentleman spy, Egerton’s career picked up the pace, making it possible for him to land more important roles. Taron Egerton’s career started in 2011 and has barely lasted for eight years; in this short time, he has been able to achieve what most actors who have been in the industry much longer still hope to accomplish.

Taron Egerton’s Age and Background Details

This actor was born in Meyerside, on the 10th of November in 1989 as Taron David Egerton. His birth took place in England but Taron claims he is Welsh because of his grandmother who is Welsh. His claim is also founded on the fact that when his parents divorced, he got to live with his mother. Egerton’s mother worked as a social worker and after the divorce, she moved to Anglesey, an Island in Wales where she raised Taron. He is one of four children and has an elder brother and two younger sisters.

During Egerton’s childhood, he moved around a lot and by the time he was twelve, his mother whom he lived with, moved to another location in Wales. This time it was to the market town of Aberystwyth. Taron began to take acting seriously when he turned fifteen. He had always been the class clown and when a friend recommended that he join a youth theatre program, Taron decided it would be a great way to express his energy. He was interested in other things like drawing prior to his friend’s suggestion and it was clear that he had artistic leanings.

Ysgol Penglais School was where he got his high school diploma from; he was already into drama with the youth theatre which most likely influenced his decision to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Choosing to attend this school was proof that Taron was taking his acting seriously. He graduated in 2012 with Honors and the previous year (2011), he received the Stephen Sondheim Award for Student of the year.

As previously mentioned, Egerton’s career began in 2011, but he mostly got small roles in television shows and movies. His big break came in 2014 when he was cast as Eggsy in Kingsman: The Secret Service which led to him signing a 3-film contract with 20th Century Fox. Testament of Youth, Legend, Billionaire Boys Club, and Robin Hood, are some of the films he has appeared in. In the 2016 animated film, Sing, Egerton voiced the character Johnny which was his first voice acting experience.

Is He Gay?

When actors play certain roles and put up brilliant performances, it is easy to assume they are projecting real aspects of their lives. Egerton was cast to play Elton John in his 2019 biopic, Rocket Man. His casting was influenced by the fact that he had worked with Elton John, singing one of his songs in Sing, the aforementioned animated film. Elton John is one of the first musicians who embraced their sexual identity as gays, and Egerton had to portray this aspect of the musician’s life. As one would expect, it led to speculations about the actor’s sexuality.

To the best of our knowledge, Taron Egerton is not gay. As of this writing, he is in a relationship with Emily Thomas who works as an assistant director; it is said that they started dating in 2017. Commenting on their relationship, the actor stated that because they work in the same industry, they barely get to spend time together but when they do, it ends up as one of the happiest moments of his life.

How Tall Is Taron Egerton?

One of the significant things about Taron Egerton is his height. This is significant because most of the people he has been cast alongside often tower above him, especially his male co-stars. Taron is 5ft 9in (1.75 meters) while these other actors are closer to 6 feet. Regardless, this has not affected his ability to deliver noteworthy performances in any way.
