Is Steve McFadden Leaving EastEnders?
It appears that Steve McFadden is leaving EastEnders as his character is dying on the show. Though Phil is not yet shown to be dead in EastEnders.
The hard-man is proclaimed dead in Thursday’s (July 7) episode of the BBC One soap, which has yet to air on BBC One but is accessible to watch on iPlayer.
Furthermore, the official page of BBC Eastenders shared a conversation between Phil and his love Sharon Watts about his death wish.
He delivers her a series of letters and instructs her to divide them up once Peggy’s wine bar opens. Sharon, on the other hand, bursts into tears and tells Phil how much she loves him before commanding him to fight.
Phil is attacked in his cell and reported dead, resulting in heartbreaking scenes. Meanwhile, Sharon puts on a brave face to ensure Phil’s ‘last’ desire is fulfilled and Peggy’s opening is a success.
Sam (Kim Medcalf), on the other hand, discovers the letters and is left completely heartbroken, both by her brother’s death and by his failure to send her a letter.
But there’s more to this story than meets the eye, as Phil grins his way into Peggy’s opening and he’s very much alive! So, is he dead or alive? Stay tuned to find the truth in the coming episode as they are experts in leaving the show on cliffhangers.
What Happened To Steve McFadden?
On EastEnders, Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchel) is proclaimed dead, leaving fans wondering where he is going. However, he is not going anywhere, as seen in the last minutes of a recent episode.
He managed to survive, but we’ll have to wait until the next episode to figure out how.
Phil was previously handed a ‘get out of jail’ card by DCI Keeble after being sentenced to prison for his multiple misdeeds, including his role in the murder of Vincent Hubbard.
But, being a Mitchell, Phil couldn’t bear the thought of becoming a grass and instead opted to accept that his future would be spent behind bars.
Phil was threatened by fellow convict Craig this week, and he sought to obtain a burner phone from another prisoner, Ravi. In exchange, Ravi requested information about Kheerat Panesar, so Phil called his son Ben.
Ben, however, opted against stitching up his business partner Kheerat since he was appreciative of his relationship.
Phil was later beaten up by Craig, and Keeble paid him a visit for the hundredth time to tell him that her bargain was still open. She indicated that Phil either accept the deal or risked leaving prison in a corpse bag, but Phil refused.
Phil was resigned to his destiny in his jail cell, staring at a portrait of his mother, Peggy (Dame Barbara Windsor). “You’d best be ready for me,” he continued, visibly moved.
Craig and a gang of convicts arrived and thrust themselves forward, creating a suspenseful cliffhanger.
Sharon contacted the jail in the final episode of the week, and when the scene flashed to guards racing to the cell and a body being hauled away, she was informed that Phil had died.
