Former LA Lakers basketball player Shannon Brown is one of 18 ex-NBA players who are arrested for an alleged health care scam.
Shannon Brown, who won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, was a standout player during high school and college.
He played college basketball for Michigan State University and was a second-team All-Big Ten selection during his junior year.
The 6-feet-4-inches tall player started his professional NBA career with Cleveland Cavaliers. The basketball club drafted him in the 2006 NBA Draft.
Since then, he has been a part of various clubs throughout his playing career including Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Bobcats, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, and more.
However, he is not in the news for his basketball games or his performance. He is in the news for committing a health care scam along with other 18 former NBA players.

According to NBC News, Shannon Brown and seventeen other NBA players were arrested on Thursday, October 7.
They were charged with defrauding the NBA’s health and welfare benefit plan out of $4 million between 2017 and 2020.
The former players apparently submitted false claims to get compensated for medical and dental expenses that never happened.
Among charged are the 2008 Boston Celtics champion Anthony Allen, Sebastian Telfair, Ronald Glen Davis, Melvin Ely, Darius Miles, and Ruben Patterson.
Likewise, Alan Anderson, Desiree Allen, William Bynum, Christopher Douglas-Roberts, Jamario Moon, Milton Palacio, Eddie Robinson, and Gregory Smith are also involved in the scam.
All 18 defendants will face a count of conspiracy for committing health care and wife fraud.
