According to the court, Brendan Mullin was also accused of deceiving an identified man and woman into signing a payment instruction to generate a profit or inflicting loss to another.
Mr. Mullin, dressed in a suit and a light blue shirt, remained silent during the hearing.
Judge Michael Walsh granted him bail on the condition that he forfeited his passport.
On November 11th, he’ll return to court to be served with a book of evidence.
Between 1984 and 1995, Brendan Mullin made 55 appearances for Ireland, scoring 17 tries.
In 1989, he went with the British and Irish Lions and represented Ireland at three Rugby World Cups.

Mullin had been the subject of theft, false accounting, and deceit investigation by the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau.
Between 2011 and 2013, a total of €573,000 was stolen from Bank Of Ireland at two of the bank’s locations in Dublin 4.
On one of those occasions, Mr. Mullin was accused of stealing €500,000 from the bank on December 16, 2011.
During that time, he was accused of stealing a total of €73,000 from the bank on eight separate occasions.
In the same period, Mr. Mullin is also accused of five instances of false accounting.

There are nine counts of theft from the Bank of Ireland totaling €573,000, five counts of false accounting, and one deception offense.
He is suspected of stealing €500,000 on December 16, 2011, at Bank of Ireland Private Banking, Burlington Plaza, Burlington Road, Dublin 4.
Among the other charges, he is accused of stealing €18,450 from the Bank of Ireland on September 7, 2012, at Mespil Road in Dublin 4, and another €18,792 on March 15, 2013.
