Is Restoring Galveston Coming Back In 2023?

Yes, Restoring Galveston is coming back for season 5 on May 3, 2023. Restoring Galveston season 5 release date is May 3, 2023.

The renovation show follows husband and wife Ashley and Michael Cordray as they purchase historic homes in Galveston, renovate them, and sell them via their realty firm, Save 1900.

Restoring Galveston documents their escapades. The couple’s real estate and renovation company specializes in restoring homes from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Cordrays work with homes near the brink of destruction in their beautiful hometown of Galveston Island, Texas.

Ashley and Michael are passionate about preserving the island’s history and distinctive architectural styles.

They are in a joint effort to save many dilapidated and neglected homes around the island before they are demolished and lost forever. “Galveston got a great history,” says the husband.

Determined to conserve the island’s history, the pair won’t let these historic architectural gems get wiped off the map.

Is Restoring Galveston Coming Back In 2023?

Yes, Restoring Galveston is coming back in 2023 for its fifth season. The renovation show is scheduled to be released on May 3, 2023.

Through the show, the Cordrays use their passion for home renovation to restore and preserve some of the oldest and most historic homes in Texas. They turn discarded materials into timeless projects.

The pair abandoned their day jobs to pursue their mutual interest and launched their realty firm, Save 1900, in 2016.

Galveston Island has a lot of old houses -some of them have even survived the 1900 storm. When they started this job, they both had corporate jobs and were working on the houses on the weekends.

They would do one house a year. “It was just going really slow,” Michael said to Click2Houston. Later, Ashley convinced him to quit his job so they could devote full-time to home renovation.

But with so many houses in the area that were older and needed love and care, they couldn’t work on as many as they wanted. Houses were being pulled down due to neglect and other reasons.

Michael said many of those houses had survived ruinous hurricanes and the destructive 1900 storm. So, the husband and wife decided to quit their jobs to take care of them and established Save 1900.

Soon, Magnolia approached the couple to launch their show, Restoring Galveston, also known as Big Texas Fix.

They both agreed with the concept as it could inspire other people to preserve and restore historic gems. The renovation show then premiered on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

Season 1 is available to stream on Discovery Plus.

Meet The Hosts Of Restoring Galveston

Michael and Ashley Cordrays are the hosts of DIY Network’s Restoring Galveston. They are married and have three daughters -Elle, Emma, and Emory James Cordray.

The youngest addition to the family, Emory, arrived on March 18, 2023, which happens to be Michael’s birthday. The pair shared the happy news via Instagram on the same day.

Michael is a Galveston Native

Michael was born and raised in Galveston. His family has been there for generations and his kids are the fifth generation.

His family has been buying, selling, and building homes in Galveston since the 1870s. He considers it a great honor to assist both buyers and sellers every day in the historic area.

He had worked corporate in Houston for around a decade. The commute got old, so he moved as he was tired of doing over three hours each way past downtown Houston.

Later, he did the whole townhouse for a while in Houston. He and Ashley were both working at the same company at the time.

After a while, they started dating, and she discovered he was from Galveston. Knowing that, she said they should buy a house there and the next day, she showed him a picture on HAR.

The pair went there, bought the house, and that’s where it all started.

Now, the husband and wife restore historic island homes, and many of those transformations can be seen on their show, Restoring Galveston.

Ashley Is From Texas

Ashley hails from Spring, Texas. She is a renovator, a loving wife, and a proud mother of three daughters.

She married Galveston native Michael on April 4, 2014, and has been living in the area for many years. She appears alongside her beloved husband in the popular house renovation show.

She studied Maritime Administration at Texas A&M University Galveston Campus and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science.

According to her LinkedIn bio, she worked as CSR at Kirby Inland Marine from 2008 to 2011. In November 2011, she joined J.A.M Distributing as Outside Sales – Automotive Lubricants.

She left the job after working for over five years in 2017.

During that time, the couple had already launched their realty firm after deciding to pursue home renovation full-time.

She believes all the homes have character and their own story. But they’re being torn down all over their area.
