Ray Meagher, an Australian actor who has appeared in Australian film and television, is leaving Home And Away.
His portrayal of Alf Stewart on Home and Away, which he has done since the show’s debut in 1988, makes him the longest-running actor in an Australian television role.
Before announcing his resignation in the middle of July 2022, he was the only original actor remaining actively involved in the show. Meagher, who has been playing the part of Alf for more than 30 years, received a Gold Logie Award in 2010 for his performance in the television series Home and Away.

Alf Stewart by Ray Meagher, Summer Bay’s most well-known inhabitant, may depart this week if he chooses to leave the community for love. Fortunately for supporters, Ray acknowledged that, while having considered it, he won’t be leaving Summer Bay anytime soon.
A few weeks ago, Roo made his way back to Summer Bay, and last week, Alf, who looked to be in a particularly foul mood, did the same.
When Roo enquired about Martha, she revealed something that stunned her: Martha had reportedly decided to stay in Merimbula permanently and wouldn’t return to Summer Bay!
As Roo realized he would have to choose between leaving the community he had lived in all of his life or moving to be with his wife, Alf’s grumpiness finally made sense.
Alf didn’t appear to be in the right frame of mind to decide just yet.
“The person you love will never return to Summer Bay!” Roo shouted. How does that affect you?
Alf quickly departed the restaurant to attend to some surf club business rather than debate it, stating he would make a choice later.
This week, Roo keeps pressuring a hesitant Alf to make a choice, but she serves to irritate him more; it doesn’t appear he will be able to prevail anyway.
Then, back in the diner, Alf says the words no one ever imagined they’d hear after deciding he can never lose Martha again.
“I’m leaving summer Bay.” He said

Ray Meagher is the legendary actor from Home and Away who played Alf Stewart on the soap opera for over three decades.
Ray had a triple bypass procedure in 2019, and six months later, he endured another crucial cardiac treatment.
In the same interview, Ray acknowledged that the timing of his triple bypass surgery was a bit unexpected.
The doctor arrived a few nights later covered in blood, having cracked a few other individuals, he claimed. “Well, they opened me up, but I thought I’d have a double bypass,” he added.
But the actor said he has never felt better since receiving the stent. So, he is not planning to retire anytime soon.
The Australian actor earned more than $400,000 annually.

Alf moved into the Summer Bay House at the Caravan Park after marrying Martha Baldivis.
Due to her borderline personality disorder, Martha first found it difficult to adjust to life in Summer Bay. However, she has since come to appreciate having a family again and always having a secure place to go if necessary.
Following her recent kidney transplant, Martha, Alf, and daughter-donor Roo by Georgie Parker, all moved back to Merimbula, where they were all taken care of by Martha’s son Kieran played by Rick Donald. He has been living there since last year.
While Ray Claimed to spend more time with his wife away from the show, we do not see it happening soon.
