52-year-old New Orleans artist Michael Tyler, better known by his stage name Mystikal, got arrested in 2022 after getting charged with sexual assault for the third time.
Despite this notorious track record, he has managed to make a name for himself on the local scene since his debut as the album Mystikal remains one of his most successful projects to date.
Even when he kept getting in and out of prison, he persisted in making songs, collaborating with Mark Ronson, Stevie Stone, and Danny!, to name a few.
Is Rapper Mystikal Arrested Again In 2022?
New Orlean’s rapper Mystikal got arrested again in 2022 after being held in the Ascension Parish Jail on his third count of alleged sexual crimes.
Indeed, it is not his first encounter with law enforcement as he got sent behind bars in January 2004 after a district court judge in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, sentenced him to six years in prison on charges of attacking his former hairstylist.
In a report by MTV, Judge Anthony Marabella did not leave any leeway for him to escape unscathed as he made sure to get him to register with the state as a sex offender.
Earlier, he got charged with aggravated sexual assault and extortion after inspectors arrested him and two bodyguards, Leland Ellis and Vercy Carter, for terrorizing the target for cashing $80,000 worth of unauthorized checks. It was only a ploy from her to provide sexual acts, but the cops were able to extract a videotape of the assault and gave the victim justice.
Although he pleaded guilty to his crimes, he had no remorse for his actions as his attitude led to his extended stay in the orange uniform.
But there was nothing he could do as the victim agreed to a lesser sentence and promised to keep the tape sealed from public viewing.
Is Mystikal Held Up In Ascension Parish Jail?
Mystikal got locked up in the Ascension Parish Jail after getting caught by the police over the weekend and faced his third charge of sexual assault.
He moved on from his past but did not learn from the mistakes, getting arrested after a reported dispute with his domestic partner. He got detained for a week before he got allowed bail as the judge gave a verdict for three months of jail.
He had entered the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail and also needed to give explanations for his overdue child support payments.
Later, he gave an interview to The Associated Press in one of his first sitdowns after getting out of imprisonment, as he said it was almost like a bad recurring dream.
Moreover, he added that God may have left his side, but he was willing to repent for his sins and not commit more hideous crimes.
What Are Mystikal Charges? Who Is His Victim?
The charge against rapper Mystikal included false imprisonment and first-degree assault, but the victim remains anonymous.
We are unsure about the reasoning for his repeated offenses, but we understand that he did not come from a picture-perfect household.
Born on September 22, 1970, he grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana’s 12th Ward. When he was seven, his father, a store owner, died, leaving him to fend for himself.
But that was not the end of his tragedies as he found the dead body of his sister Michelle Tyler, who sang the chorus on Not That N***, on his 24th birthday after getting killed by her then-boyfriend, Damion Neville. He failed to get acquitted due to a lack of evidence and remains free.
