Sosa was called up for his first major on July 23, 2022, against Baltimore Orioles. The rookie was able to play because was injured after a hit in his elbow and could not continue.

Once there, he put up a.522 OPS in 33 games, which led Chicago to leave him off of its 40-man roster less because they didn’t believe in him and more because they thought it would be difficult to choose him in the Rule 5 Draft.
