Jumana Nagarwala is charged with performing female genital mutilation (FGM) on nine minor girls from Minnesota, Michigan, and Illinois.
The charges also include some who cried, bled, and screamed during the procedure and were also given Valium ground in liquid Tylenol to keep them calm, as per the court records show.
The defense, however, argued that Nagarwala never harmed any child and also said it only involved “scraping,” not cutting off girls’ genitalia.
