Is Jason Thompson Leaving The Young and The Restless?
The Young and the Restless character Billy Abbott aka Jason Thompson could be leaving based on how the writers have treated him.
The spoiler confirms what viewers have been discussing for months: the writers have purposefully dismantled the character bit by bit. First, Billy experiences blackouts and attempts to murder Adam. He attends a few counseling sessions and appears to be cured. Fans disliked the gum-chewing alter ego, who vanished as quickly as he appeared.
All of this had fans convinced that there are plenty of ways that the writers could write him off the series. According to Soap Dirt, there are several compelling reasons to believe Jason Thompson will leave the role soon.
There is also the possibility that Thompson could leave Y&R to join General Hospital in the near future. This is the most compelling argument of all regarding his departure.
In a piece of similar news, some speculated that Gina Tognoni would switch roles with Michelle Stafford, but this did not occur. Billy Miller was playing Billy Abbott when he and Victoria fell in love and got married drunk on the island.
The writers may want him back, but Jason Thompson could be in Genoa City for a long time. Keep an eye out for updates on Thompson and Miller, and keep watching The Young and the Restless on weekday afternoons on CBS at 12:30 p.m. EST.
Jason Thompson’s COVID Diagnosis and Health Update
On June 23, 2022, Jason Thompson revealed that he was diagnosed with COVID-19. The Billy Abbott actor claimed he’d been “dodging COVID” for two and a half years before testing positive.
However, the Billy actor expressed disappointment because he will miss out on some events. One thing you might notice right away is that he won’t be nominated for any Daytime Emmys.
Jason took to Instagram to inform his fans of the news. “After 2.5 years of dodging Covid,” he wrote in the caption. He also apologized that he would not be attending the @daytimeemmys, which was a shame. To all of his fellow nominees and friends, he wished the best of luck and a fantastic night celebrating.
Of course, his fans and followers didn’t take long to respond to his post. “Sorry you have to miss those special events,” many of them wrote. “Get well soon, my good man.” His fans from all over the world wished him and prayed for his health. Take care and keep your health and safety in mind. That is so disappointing for you. “You should feel better!”
However, three months after being tested positive, he is currently doing fine, according to the reports. Talking about his health update, his COVID-19 has been tested negative, and he is doing well at the present.
Jason Thompson Recast
The big question is whether Billy Abbott will be recast to replace Jason Thompson on Young and the Restless. It’s worth noting that he was just in Europe with his wife Paloma Jonas for the Monte Carlo TV Festival.
Well, Thompson has returned to the United States and plans to attend the Emmys in Los Angeles. However, after becoming ill, he received a positive test. With Y&R filming next week and scripts already written for Billy Abbott, it appears to be a recast.
Nonetheless, there’s little doubt that Jason Thompson is taking a break from Y&R. Of course, the CBS drama could always scramble and write Billy out for two weeks. They could send Billy out of town to see his mother, Jill Abbott (Jess Walton).
Well, we shall have to wait for more information from Thompson or the network on this. But, if it’s anything like the rest of the soaps, Y&R will have to look for a recast actor.
In addition to missing the Emmys, Thompson said he was disappointed to miss a close friend’s wedding in Wyoming due to his COVID-19. Otherwise, he’s not in too much pain at the present. But the Billy actor is also aware that he is fortunate that his case was minor.
