Gregory Joseph Pence, better known as Greg Pence, is a politician and businessman from the United States.
He is well-known for representing Indiana’s 6th congressional district in the United States since 2019. The district covers many east-central Indiana, including Muncie, New Castle, and several of Indianapolis’ and Cincinnati’s outskirt suburbs.
He is the elder brother of the former president of the United States, Mike Pence, a Republican who served the district from 2003 to 2013. He assumed office on January 3, 2019, and was preceded by Luke Messer.
The 65-year-old has also served in the military and was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1979 to 1984. While in the military, he held the rank of First Lieutenant.
Besides being active in politics, Pence is in the mall business and owns many of them.
Is Greg Pence Related To Mike Pence?
Yes, as stated above, Greg Pence is related to Mike Pence and is his older brother.
The 48th vice president of the United States under President Donald Trump, Michael Richard Pence, is an American politician, broadcaster, and attorney. He held the vice president position from 2017 until 2021.
He was formerly Indiana’s 50th governor, representing the Republican Party from 2013 to 2017. Greg served in the United States House of Representatives for over a decade, from 2001 to 2013.
The Pences were raised in Columbus, Indiana, where Mike Pence was born.
Before entering private practice, the future politician completed his bachelor’s studies at Hanover College and got a law degree at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. He made two unsuccessful runs for a congressional seat in 1988 and 1990, and from 1994 to 1999, he hosted conservative discussion shows on radio and television.
He was chosen to serve in the US House of Representatives in 2000. From 2001 to 2003, he represented Indiana’s 2nd district; from 2003 to 2013, he served Indiana’s 6th district.
He was in the third-highest position in the House Republican leadership as chairman of the House Republican Conference from 2009 to 2011. He also served as chairman of the Republican Study Committee from 2005 to 2007.
He has identified himself as a Republican, a Christian, a conservative, and a supporter of the Tea Party movement. When Mitch Daniels announced his retirement due to term limits, Pence successfully sought the Republican candidacy for the 2012 Indiana governor race.
In the closest governor race in fifty years, he beat John R. Gregg, a former speaker of the Indiana House. He campaigned for additional support for private school projects after taking office as governor in January 2013, when he also started the most significant tax cut in Indiana’s history.
However, Pence is most known for his controversial vice presidency under disgraced former President Donald Trump.
Although Pence and Trump lost to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in their race for the 2020 presidency, the Trump administration and campaign refused to accept defeat.
To that end, they falsely claimed that there had been electoral fraud and launched more than 86 failed lawsuits in various states.
Pence, in his role as President of the Senate, recognized the Biden-Harris ticket as the victor of the election despite Trump’s calls to annul the results and the assault on the U.S. Capitol during the Electoral College vote count.
Pence has established a clear separation from Trump by backing candidates in multiple Republican primary contests who are opposed to the one that Trump has backed.
