Deutsche Bank Park is a dome and contains a retractable roof implemented in 2005. It allows the stadium to exert both indoor and outdoor stadium qualities.

The retractable dome helps conduct events in inclement weather, allowing an indoor playing environment. The audience can enjoy the occasion without worrying about the weather outside the dome.

Deutsche Bank holds the naming sponsorship rights signed on July 1, 2020, which runs through June 30, 2027.

They also have the option to extend the contract.

Previously, Commerzbank AG inked the naming rights deal in 2005, and the venue was known as Commerzbank-Arena. The initial agreement was worth €30 million for ten years.

After an extension in 2015, they held the naming rights till June 30, 2020.

Deutsche Bank Stadium can hold 48,000 people for American football games. It can house 48,500 spectators for international matches.

Likewise, when association football is played at the venue, 58,000 can enjoy the game. It includes a 9,300 capacity for a standing audience for league matches.

The stadium has a field size of 105*68 meters and can hold 44K to 65K fans for a concert.

Over the years, various artists have performed at the stadium and recorded a staggering number of people at the venue. The Ed Sheeran’s +–=÷× tour from September 23 to 25, 2022, welcomed 182,856 people in three days.

Frankfurt Stadium installed a hybrid turf on its playing field for the 2023 NFL international series. Before that, it contained 100% natural grass.

The deployment of the new playing surface was carried out from October 18 to 20. The hybrid system contains 90%+ natural grass, with the rest being synthetic fiber.

The transition from real grass to hybrid surface is a response to complaints from 2022’s Seattle Seahawks (16) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (21) game at the Allianz Arena.

Players and coaches weren’t happy with the playing surface and called it ‘slick,’ ‘slippery,’ ‘terrible,’ and demanded a firmer turf.

The synthetic fibers are laced into the base carpet to form a slab. The heavier material underneath the turf allows the venue to keep the surface alive for back-to-back events. Tillers Turf and Fine Turf handled the installation work.

The hybrid composition is believed to last longer than the natural surface and serve as an excellent turf for consecutive games.

Jeff Miller, the NFL’s vice president of communications, public affairs, and policy, said, “The hybrid surface, which is primarily grass with synthetic fibers woven in for durability, was chosen by the experts as best to survive and perform well in two games that we are playing back to back, given the climate, given the forces of the players, the environment.”

NFL games at Frankfurt 2023 cover the Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots on 12 November. Dolphins played the Chiefs on 5 November.

The Colts are 4-5, while the Patriots are 2-7 in the league.

It has been a roller coaster ride for Indianapolis in the 2023 campaign. They defeated the Texans, Ravens, Titans, and Panthers while they lost twice to the Jaguars, and the Rams, Browns, and Saints also handed them a loss.
