Erin Kathleen McPike. (aka Erin McPike) was born on June 28, 1983 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents Richard McPike and Amy Burrill. She attended Sycamore High School, graduating in 2001, and attended American University in Washington, DC, where she earned a degree in Political Science and Journalism. In 2005, at the age of 22, she received her high school diploma with honors.
McPike began her journalism career as a campaign writer for the National Journal. About a year and a half later, she made the big move to NBC News, where she worked as a reporter. However, after only seven months at NBC News, McPike returned to National Journal, where she took on the role of a senior political reporter for National Journal Convention Nightly . There she was on the front lines, covering overarching political news including Mitt Romney’s first presidential campaign in 2008 while working with NBC.
After a long career at NationalIm Journal, McPike joined RealClearPolitics, where she worked as a political news and polling data aggregator. As national political reporter for RealClearPolitics, she covered the hot 2012 US presidential election. During the 2010 campaign cycle, McPike covered Capitol Hill politics and followed congressional campaigns across the United States at the time.
