Dustin Johnson’s departure from the PGA Tour is now making headlines around the internet and in the media. He competes on the PGA and LIV tours as a professional golfer from the United States.
He’s won two major championships: the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, when he recorded a 4-under-par 276, and the 2020 Masters Tournament, where he set a new course record with a score of 268, 20-under-par.
He has previously finished second in the Open Championship in 2011 and the U.S. Open in 2015.
Is Dustin Johnson Leaving The PGA Tour?
Dustin Johnson, a two-time major champion, is a slew of big players who have defied the PGA Tour by signing up for the inaugural LIV Golf Series event. The LIV Golf Invitational Series is attempting to establish itself as a rival to the PGA Tour.
After it appeared that the field would be devoid of big talents until the name of two-time major champion Dustin Johnson was revealed on Wednesday, there was a great surprise.
LIV Golf also picked up a major win ahead of its maiden event in London. Dustin was one of 42 golfers who unexpectedly decided to play in the start-maiden up’s event. After all, he had stated in February that he was “totally committed to the PGA Tour.”
Sergio Garcia, Graeme McDowell, Martin Kaymer, Ian Poulter, Louis Oosthuizen, Lee Westwood, and others will attend.
What Happened To Him?
LIV Golf is expected to pay Johnson up to $150 million for confirming his commitment to the new golf circuit, according to The Telegraph. This isn’t the first time LIV Golf has offered a nine-figure sum to entice a well-known golfer to join its ranks.
He couldn’t pass up LIV Golf’s offer and the possible prize money he may win in the series.
He is taking a chance by competing on the LIV Golf Tour. The PGA Tour has stated that players will not be allowed to compete in both series; they must choose one. As a result, the world’s 13th-ranked golfer and the two-time major champion would miss out on PGA Tour prize money and important endorsements.
Dustin Johnson Net Worth: How Much Money Does He Make From His Career?
As per Celebrity Net Worth, pro-golfer Dustin Johnson has an estimated net worth of $50 million. He is tied for 15th place among golfers with Adam Scott, Davis Love, Lee Trevino, and Pete Dye, according to the website.
Johnson, a former world No. 1 golfer, is ranked third all-time on the PGA Tour with $73.4 million in earnings.
Johnson’s net worth, on the other hand, should skyrocket as a result of his new contract. It’s unclear how much money he’ll have in the bank, but given that he may gain $150 million simply by attending the tour, he should have a decent chance of at least doubling it.
