Is Brian Kelly Going To Lsu?

Brian Kelly of Notre Dame will be appointed LSU’s next head coach; sources told The Athletic on Monday night.

Kelly’s offer from LSU is a 10-year deal for more than $100 million with incentives, according to sources who spoke to The Athletic’s Matt Fortuna and Brody Miller.

Several coaches, including now-USC head coach Lincoln Riley, were interested in joining the Tigers.

Kelly, who ranks third among active FBS head coaches with 263 victories behind Alabama’s Nick Saban and North Carolina’s Mack Brown, would be a significant hire for LSU.

LSU’s previous three head coaches have all won national championships: Nick Saban in 2003, Les Miles in 2007, and Ed Orgeron in 2019.

Who Will Replace Brain Kelly?

Brian Kelly is departing South Bend for LSU. Therefore Notre Dame is the latest college football position to open.

According to several websites, below are the top three possible replacements replacing Brian Kelly as Notre Dame’s head coach.

Matt Campbell, Iowa State’s head coach, is the first. Campbell has guided Iowa State to five consecutive bowl appearances, with a 42-33 record in six seasons in Ames.

Matt guided Iowa State to their first Big 12 regular-season title in school history, as well as a Fiesta Bowl victory.

The second one is Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator, Marcus Freeman.

Before the 2021 season, Kelly campaigned hard to recruit Freeman as Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator, and he might be a potential in-house candidate to succeed him at the helm.

The third may be Jacksonville Jaguars’ Urban Meyer.

Meyer had previously been linked to Notre Dame, and even though he is only in his first season as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, there will be plenty of rumors linking him to the Irish position now.
