A turning point in Luyendyk’s career occurred in 2013 when he decided to explore off-road racing, specifically in the Stadium Super Trucks series. In the seven competitions he competed in during his brief season, he won a heat and finished in third place three times.
When he earned the bronze medal in the SST division at the 2015 X Games in Austin, he accomplished a significant goal two years later.
Luyendyk joined Aero Motorsports, a team sponsored by Cooper Tires and Ethika, to compete in the Traxxas TORC Series. At Crandon International Off-Road Raceway, he made a strong showing in his Pro Light class debut, finishing fourth.
On November 18, 2013, Luyendyk put through 138 laps in the DW12 IndyCar while testing with Dale Coyne Racing.
Luyendyk won his maiden race at Barbagallo Raceway in Perth, Australia, during the 2018 Stadium Super Trucks Series. Later, in June, in Detroit, he won another race. He won his third SST race at Road America two years later in the weekend’s opening race.
