Ronan Keating’s Married Status
In April 1998, Keating married his first wife Yvonne Connolly. His 12-year marriage came crashing down after his first wife Yvonne Connolly discovered he’d been playing away.
Yvonne had long issues in her marriage to the Boyzone singer, but her worries were confirmed when she stumbled upon one of his phone bills. Yvonne saw a phone number on her husband’s bill that she didn’t recognize. Eager to find out the mystery caller, Yvonne phoned the number only for the recipient’s voicemail greeting leaving her identity exposed.
The call confirmed that Ronan had been playing away with Boyzone dancer, Francine Cornell in a steamy seven-month affair.
Speaking to The Sun, Francine said: “She knew something was going on and she got hold of his phone records and called my number. From my voicemail, she got my name that’s how she found out. Ronan tried to deny it all at first. He said I was a dancer from the tour and we were just good friends.” However, Francine has insisted that she and Ronan were in love.
Their romance shortly ended after Ronan vowed to patch things up with Yvonne, telling Francine that they couldn’t speak again. Yvonne later contacted Francine, asking that the pair meet at a London hotel so she could get the truth.
Speaking on Brendan O’Connor’s Cutting Edge, she said, “I just needed answers. I just needed the truth, and I needed to make sure stories collaborated. It was very hard to figure out who you can trust.”
After having a conversation with Francine, she said that Francine was as much a victim as she was. She said, “When I look back, this is what it all boils down to: it was two girls in love with the same boy who over a five-hour conversation realized that that boy was not who we thought he was”.
Ronan and Yvonne later called time on their marriage, which officially ended in April 2015.
