Humberto Tan Biography

Humberto Tan born Humberto Tan-A-Kiam , is a Dutch radio and television presenter, sports journalist and writer of Surinamese origin. After obtaining his pre-university diploma, Tan went to study law at the University of Amsterdam , where he obtained his doctoral exam (master in law).

Tan first appeared on television at Sonja Barend in a program segment called the table of 7. In 1991 he was hired by the AVRO as editor for the program Forza TV , which he also soon presented, together with Jessica Broekhuis.

Two years later he switched to Studio Sport and he also presented the NOS Journaal for some time . In 1999 Tan was elected “best dressed Dutchman”, which made him decide to start his own clothing line.

Tan is also a board member of the Suriprofs foundation, which raises funds for charities in Suriname. Since 2002 he is also ambassador of the Dutch Red Cross and since 2016 also ambassador for the Johan Ferrier Fund.

In 2005, Tan switched to the new television channel Talpa, where he was a sports expert at NSE and presenter at Café de Sport. On 12 July 2007 it was announced that Tan switched to RTL Nederland , where he presented the Sunday evening premier football . In 2013 he played a guest role in the TV Canteen as Isaac of the Love Boat.

From 2008 until the summer of 2013 Tan presented The Matches of the pay channel Eredivisie Live.

Tan regularly signed up for 538- dj Edwin Evers during his vacation. He was also a substitute for the RTL4 program RTL Boulevard from 2008 to 2012.

From October 2010 to March 2013, Humberto Tan presented the On the Move program of BNR Nieuwsradio. Since 2012, that program was called BNR Humberto Tan. It was broadcast every working day between 6:00 and 9:30.

From August 26, 2013 to June 8, 2018, Tan presented the TV talk show RTL Late Night on RTL 4. He presented this up-to-date talk show more than a thousand times. Due to falling viewing figures, he was replaced by Twan Huys.

Tan is ambassador for the World Wildlife Fund and the Dutch Red Cross and since late 2014 he has been a consultant at the court in Overijssel. In 2015, he joined the board of the Victim Support Fund.

In May 2018 it was announced that Tan would become the new presenter of the Dance Dance Dance and Holland’s Got Talent programs.
