Hugo Ekitike is a French professional footballer. He was born on June 20, 2002, and presently plays as a striker for Paris Saint-Germain, a team in French football’s top league Ligue 1. His native club, Reims, has loaned him out.
Ekitike scored the team’s second and third goals after coming on as a substitute in Reims’ 3-1 victory over Nantes on September 26th, 2021. There were reports that Ekitike will join English Premier League club Newcastle United in January 2022, but he elected to stay with Reims.
The president of Reims, Jean-Pierre Caillot, said that Ekitike had several lucrative offers, but he chose to stay with the club and make history with them.
Ekitike made his Paris Saint-Germain debut on August 6, 2022, as a substitute in a 5-0 away win over Clermont. On October 1st, 2022, he made his first appearance for the club in a 2-1 victory over Nice at the Parc des Princes.
Ten days later, he made his UEFA Champions League debut as a substitute in a 1-1 home tie with Benfica. He scored his first goal for Paris Saint-Germain in a 5-0 home win over Auxerre on November 13th, 2022.
