Can I build my own village in Minecraft?
There is no right or wrong way to make your own village as long as your houses have beds to accommodate villagers. You can use any materials to build your houses, decorate as you wish, and make as many structures as you like. You can even build apartment buildings or condos for your villagers.

Villagers must have enough beds within village bounds for baby villagers to spawn. The beds must have 2 blocks of clearance above them because there needs to be room for the baby villager to jump on them. This means that the baby villager needs to be able to path-find the bed; it can’t be in an unreachable spot.

They don’t steal. Check the chests that you grabbed the wheat from. There is a really annoying glitch where stuff you’ve just recently taken from a chest will disappear from your inventory as soon as you try to use it or move it around in your inventory.
