In both cases, it’s best to soak the wart in water between applications to soften it, and then gently remove any deceased tissue with an emery board or pumice stone to better penetrate through the many layers of skin.

Many people have removed warts with these self-care tips: Peeling medicine (salicylic acid). Nonprescription wart removal products are available as a patch or liquid. Plantar Wart Freezing

Home Treatments for Warts

Any object used (tweezers, file, etc.) should not be used on any other body part after touching the wart. Those with diabetes should not treat warts on the feet.

Using super glue on warts turns out to be a patented method that works much the same as duct tape, except that when the glue is removed every 6 days, some of the wart is removed with it.

You could rub them with a copper coin – an old penny will do. The ultimate cure is to place them in contact with a corpse. But don’t count on any of these revolting remedies. Conventional medicine, folklore and even witchcraft fails to shift these ugly things.

Peeling medicine (salicylic acid).

For common warts, look for a 17 percent salicylic acid solution. These products (Compound W, Dr. Scholl’s Clear Away Wart Remover, others) are usually used daily, often for a few weeks. For best results, soak your wart in warm water for a few minutes before applying the product.

In general, apple cider vinegar is believed to work for warts in the following ways: Vinegar is an acid (acetic acid), so it can eliminate some types of bacteria and viruses on contact. One needs to keep going down until just below the level of the surrounding skin to eradicate a wart completely. Stop when the base of the wart looks exactly like normal skin (i.e. no black dots or ‘graininess). If they become sore or bleed a little just leave off the treatment and carry on the following night.

Plantar warts are warts that develop on plantar surfaces — that is, the soles (or bottom) of the feet. Normal standing and walking tends to force them into the skin, and the pressure causes pain to the affected area. Calluses formed by the body’s attempt to prevent spread of warts can also cause pain when walking.

Don’t pick at warts or try to peel them off, as this will only spread the virus. Have separate nail clippers for healthy and infected areas. Try not to shave over warts.

A common misconception is that plantar warts have seeds or roots that grow through the skin and can attach to the bone. The wart may appear to have a root or seeds, but these are in fact small clusters of the wart just beneath the top layer of the skin. The wart cannot live in any tissue except the skin.
