Is the T silent in exactly?
When we have the word ‘exact’, we will make a True T because it’s part of an ending consonant cluster. But when we add the -ly ending, it now comes between two consonants. You’ll hear a lot of native speakers say ‘exactly‘, with no T sound.
Is it pronounced anti or anti?
The prefix “anti” is acceptably pronounced both ways, however it is usually pronounced [antai] (or to a lesser extent [anti]) when stressed or emphasized, and [antɪ] as in ‘lid’ when said otherwise. Highly active question.
Why is the L silent in Almond?
A: The “l” in “almond” was silent until very recently. Interestingly, the “l” didn’t appear in the first syllable of amandola, the medieval Latin word from which “almond” was derived, or in the earlier Latin amygdala, or in the still earlier Greek amygdale.
