How do you help an emergency birth?
Call 911 or your local emergency services as soon as possible so that an emergency first responder can talk you through the situation and send help. If possible, call your doctor or midwife, too. Make sure the front door or any other doors are unlocked so that emergency workers can get in upon arrival.
What to do if you go into Labour at home?
Call the emergency services.
Give your name, address and phone number. Tell the operator how many weeks enceinte you are, and that your baby is coming quickly, so that a midwife and an ambulance can be sent. If you can, let the operator know the length of your contractions and the intervals between them.
What is the easiest and safest position for the baby to be in for birth?
The best position for your baby to be in for labour and birth is head down, facing your back – so that their back is towards the front of your tummy. This is called the occipito-anterior position. It allows them to move more easily through the pelvis.
