Do torsion keys affect ride?
There are a number of companies out there selling a leveling kit that consists of new torsion bar adjuster keys, and claim that they will not affect the ride of the vehicle. This just is not true, but cranking the torsion bars can affect other areas of the suspension system that will give a harsh ride.

Yes,if the keys would be installed wrong,it would be almost impossible to install. But they might have put the wrong keys,because some 2500HD applications has 2 different index location at the factory.
How do I install lowering torsion keys?
Take the new key and with one hand on the key and one on the torsion bar, slide the torsion bar to the rear. Engaging the key, center the key in the cross member. It should have this orientation. Put the tool back in place and tighten it up until you can get the keeper back in place.
How do torsion keys work?
As the wheel cycles up or down, the torsion bar twists around its axis. As it does so, the resistance increases as the bar wants to return its axis of zero resistance. This is the point where the torsion key applies adjustable force to the torsion bar and ultimately rotates the torsion bar and providing “lift”.

You can go as high as long as you maintain at least 5/8’s of a inch between the UCA and frame stop and that also includes needing to fix the OE shock due to being to short. Either a lower mount or longer shock.

It is recommended to lift the front end to reduce stress on the threads as you turn the adjuster bolt. I always spray some penetrating fluid on the bolt to help with the years of crud and rust. Then counterclockwise relieves the tension on the bar.

Call around and ask for a front end alignment. Their usually like $40-60. They adjust camber and the toe.
Is it safe to drive with a broken torsion bar?
Depending on the vehicle you’re driving, you may have a front or a rear sway bar, or you may have both. If you suspect that a sway bar is broken, you can still drive the car, but you must use caution. It will feel “looser”, particularly when driving at high speeds.

Yes it effects the alignment. Check out your shop manual – First set ride height, then camber, then caster, finally toe. That will cause the least amount of need to iterate. Perhaps the easiest one to visualize is the effect on caster and camber.

- Feel along the torsion bar for rust. Rust patches will feel gritty like a scab.
