How to get water out of lightning connector

If your iPhone or Lightning accessory is wet

Tap your iPhone gently against your hand with the Lightning connector facing down to remove excess liquid. Leave your iPhone in a dry area with some airflow. After at least 30 minutes, try charging with a Lightning cable or connecting a Lightning accessory.

Turn off your device and use the can of compressed air or the bulb syringe to clean out the charging port. Blast a few short bursts and see if any dust falls out. If using compressed air, make sure you’re holding the can upright to avoid getting water inside the port.

If you have an iPhone XS or later, your phone can detect liquid in your Lightning port. When it does, your iPhone might display a Charging Not Available error that says “Liquid has been detected in the Lightning connector.” … The liquid present in the Lightning port could permanently damage your iPhone’s hardware.

Select Emergency Override

Selecting this option will enable you to charge your iPhone by overriding the automatic charging disablement feature. This option is to be used if it is an emergency and you need to charge your phone. This will start charging but also this may damage your iPhone.

Go to Settings >> select Battery Usage >> scroll down to Recent Battery Usage >> find and tap on Android System >> tap on Force Stop (you will get a warning that it could cause system problems). Turning it OFF did away with the “Detecting Moisture” notification that was making it impossible to charge my device.

An hour or two is enough to air-dry the moist in your iPhone’s lightning port as well as in the accessory. Try turning on your iPhone X to see if the error still shows up or try to connect the accessory to know if the error is triggered.

Dry out the phone (and especially the ports) in front of a fan. Leave your phone in an airtight container full of silica gel packets (those small packets you get inside new shoes and bags), or another drying agent. These help absorb the moisture. Do not charge the phone until you are certain it’s dry.

Water will naturally evaporate from the charging port within approximately 1 to 2 hours. If any liquid other than fresh water enters the charging port of your device, you must rinse it in fresh water and dry it thoroughly with a dry, soft cloth.

Put Your Phone in Front of a Fan, or Leave it to Dry Naturally. If you want to speed up the drying process of your phone’s USB port, we recommend placing it in front of a fan or even near an open window (if you’re sure it’s not going to rain!).

Do NOT put your iPhone in rice!

Rice will absorb the liquids but will leave all minerals stuck to your phone’s interior. These impurities can cause corrosion which can really harm your phone beyond repair. They will also make it harder for technicians to fix later on.

You should still give the iPhone at least 48 hours to dry out completely, however.

Do NOT use a blow dryer

It is perfectly alright to use a blow dryer to dry your hair but it’s not a good idea to use a blow dryer to dry a cell phone as it can actually force moisture deeper into the phone (which you don’t want to do) and a blow dryer also produces heat which could damage parts of the phone as well.

Letting your phone sit and dry out long enough will often be the trick to reviving it. The other drying agents that the folks at Gazelle tested were regular cat litter, pearl couscous, classic rolled oatmeal, instant oatmeal, classic dry rice and instant rice.

Once your phone has gotten wet, it’s critical not to charge it or put it in rice in a misguided attempt to dry it out.

Using a blow dryer may speed up the drying process, but it will not affect the Liquid Contact Indicators that prove the device was wet. Using a blow dryer is just one way to dry out an iPhone, and it should be used with caution.

At least 24 hours is the minimum, and try for 48 hours or more if you can. Don’t hit the power button to “test it out” or “see if it’s fixed yet” before that time. If there’s still water inside, it can easily conduct electricity to places on the circuit board that it’s not meant to go. The end result?

In a small number of cases swamped phones are able to dry out on their own over the course of days or weeks. But it’s not common. And while some newer phones are water resistant and can withstand a quick drop in a bucket or toilet, none are water proof.

Rice doesn’t dry out phones. Just leave them in a warm, dry place. There is good news though. Gazelle’s other test found that most phones can be revived.

Yes! Rice is still edible after a cellphone has been drying in it. Just make sure to wash the rice thoroughly with water. :D.
