Crunchyroll is an American distributor, publisher, and licensing company for anime, manga, and drama. Crunchyroll was founded in 2006 by Kun Gao and a group of University of California-Berkeley graduates. Crunchyroll provides content to more than 35 million community members worldwide, including more than 900 anime shows, 200 Asian dramas, and 50 manga titles. Which content is available to a user will depend on licensing restrictions and their location. Crunchyroll also selects some anime titles for release on Blu-ray and DVD through its distribution partners, Funimation and Viz Media in North America, and Anime Limited in the United Kingdom. Additionally, Crunchyroll operates an online store offering clothing, figurines, accessories, manga and books, games, home goods, Japanese snacks, and plush toys. The store also offers memberships to the website and gift cards for purchases made on the store. Crunchyroll content can be streamed via a variety of devices.
Paid premium memberships are available starting with a free 30-day trial. New members may sign up and use a premium membership for 30 days before being charged. Super Fan Pack memberships include unlimited access to all content on Crunchyroll and VRV for the duration of the member’s paid subscription period. Additional benefits included with membership include access to the anime song streaming service ANiUTa and the games site Utomik. These memberships are available for $14.99 per month. Standard Crunchyroll premium memberships are also available for $7.99 per month for access to only the Crunchyroll library.
