The clothes can be costly.

Stitch Fix claims the average price of items is around $55, but that the items can cost anywhere between $20 and $400. You are able to set price ranges for each category, but that doesn’t mean your stylist will always stick to that number.

The items are poor quality and overpriced, as are most clothes today. And I am picky about my style. I wouldn’t be caught deceased in most of the choices I received. My first order from Stitch Fix was right on target for me style-wise and fit.

You can reschedule or cancel a Fix shipment from your home page anytime before your Stylist starts working on it. Find instructions for how to manage the arrival for on-demand shipments as well as automatic deliveries below.

You can keep and wear the items for as long as you like (but you‘ll be charged on the same day every month, so to get the most value, you should return the Tote at least once per month). To receive another Tote, you must send back the items in the pre-paid return bag.

Returns must be made within 30 days of purchase.

Here’s the Skinny on Setting It Up

The Deal: Stitch Fix will send you five items a month based on your preferences. They may be clothes, shoes, jewelry, bags, or other accessories. After you try them on at home, you pay for the ones you like and send back the ones you do not, using the enclosed shipping pouch.

Trunk Club has a fantastic selection of higher-end clothes and accessories, and their styling options feel more personalized. On the other hand, Stitch Fix has more affordable options and reflects the latest fashion trends. I’ll be comparing the two in more detail here, but Trunk Club’s the definite winner in my eyes.

Today, Stitch Fix launched their brand new iPhone app. Now it’s easier than ever to manage my fixes, check out and leave feedback. PLUS, I can also see photos of my clothes before they arrive. The app keeps all of my important Stitch Fix information easy to access.

Stitch Fix clients enjoy free shipping both ways as a benefit of using our service! We use both FedEx and USPS to ship packages to you. When you’re done trying things on, just pop the items you don’t want into the prepaid envelope we included in your shipment and drop it off at any USPS mailbox or pickup location.

Stitch Fix now send you an email about 2 weeks prior to your fix being sent to you, this takes you to their site, where you have 48 hours to choose 5 items from the 10 items your stylist has selected for you.

Sign in to your Stitch Fix account. Select “Manage automatic Fixes,” then choose “I want to stop receiving automatic Fixes.” Check the box next to “Stop receiving Fixes automatically” and click “Submit.” Note: You can also cancel the next Fix by checking the box next to “Yes, please cancel my [month/day] Fix.”

You’ll be charged a $20 styling fee when your professional stylist begins to style you (the fee covers their time and expertise). It’s usually about 2 weeks before your Fix delivery date. If you have another upcoming Fix order, your next styling fee charge may occur right after you send back your previous returns.

The bottom line. I believe its e-commerce focus and data-driven decisions make Stitch Fix a good stock to buy right now. That said, I’d still mentally categorize it as a more speculative investment, given that its newer business initiatives still need more time to prove their merit.

Its market value is $5.26 billion. Stitch Fix has struggled recently with shipping delays and reduced spending by customers. In March, it missed analysts’ revenue expectations for the fiscal first quarter. It said its active clients spent an average of $467, down 7% compared with the same time a year ago.
