As a phone service provider, it is easiest to call 3 customer services on the phone. Call 0333 300 3333 and it will ask you to choose from numbered options. Press 1 for existing mobile and broadband accounts or press 2 to join 3 or get an additional phone.

Cancelling your contract outright

If that’s you, all you need to do is call Three (dial 333 from your Three phone) and let them know that you wish to end your contract. You’ll need to give 30 days’ notice, after which Three will cancel your number and stop billing you.

It means that your phone receives a cell signal whenever you’re outside your cell phone carrier’s operating area. A Roaming icon appears at the top of the screen, in the status area, whenever you’re outside your cellular provider’s signal area.

Data roaming occurs whenever your phone disconnects from your carrier’s network and hops on another network. Roaming allows you to make calls, send texts, and use wireless data even when you‘re outside of your network’s boundaries. If you have the roaming feature turned on, all of this will happen automatically.

This is called porting your mobile number. To keep your mobile number and transfer it to another network, you need to request what’s called a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) from your old provider and then let your new provider know the code. They will then schedule the switch.

If you really want to be safe, I recommend turning off Cellular Data entirely when you’re traveling abroad. You’ll still be able to send photos and check your email when you’re on Wi-Fi, and you won’t be surprised by a massive phone bill when you get home.
