How do I change the fan speed on my carrier furnace?
How do I adjust my blower speed?
You can increase or decrease the blower speed by slightly adjusting the pulley on the blower drive motor. To increase blower speed, slightly loosen the setscrew that holds the pulley to the driveshaft. Move or turn the pulley clockwise on the shaft one turn, then tighten setscrew.
How does a variable speed furnace blower work?
The ‘variable speed‘ is a specific type of blower motor located in the gas furnace. It moves the air into your ductwork, through room vents, and into your indoor spaces. The variable speed blower motor operates at ‘various’ speeds to precisely control the amount of airflow directed throughout your home.
What is the best fan speed for AC?
Set the fan speed on high, except on very humid days. When humidity is high, set the fan speed on low for more comfort. The low speed on humid days will cool your home more effectively and remove more moisture from the air because of slower air movement through the cooling equipment.
Should I set a minimum fan runtime?
If you don’t want to go back and forth between runtimes in the settings, most recommend keeping the minimum fan runtime to run for five to 20-minutes, depending on the season and the climate you live in.
Is it better to leave AC fan on or auto?
Keeping your fan on AUTO is the most energy-efficient option. The fan only runs when the system is on and not continuously. There is better dehumidification in your home during the summer months. When your fan is set to AUTO, moisture from cold cooling coils can drip and be drained outside.
How many hours can a fan run continuously?
You can leave a fan running continuously for eight hours, on average, without worrying about unexpected ceiling damage or fires in your home.
How long should furnace fan run per hour?
Most systems should run about 2-3 cycles per hour. How long should the furnace or AC run in a given cycle? Typically 10-15 minutes in mild weather. The closer you get to the max design temperature in heating (0 Degrees) or cooling (90 Degrees) the longer the run cycle will be.
Is it OK to run furnace fan constantly?
A common question people have is “should I run my furnace fan continuously?” The main benefit of running the furnace fan continuous is that you will have better circulation of your home’s heated or cooled air. Running your fan continuously will give you even temperatures all throughout your home.
Should I run my furnace fan on circulate?

Does running the fan on my furnace use a lot of electricity?
Warning, math required! A typical AC fan motor uses about 500 watts when it’s running. Therefore, if you run the fan continuously for a 30-day month (720 hours), you would use 360,000 watt hours (720 x 500) or 360 kilowatt hours (kWh). Therefore, the fan uses about 360 kWh per month in the ON mode.
