For a number of years, I’ve been interested in the clothing subscription service offered by an American company called Stitch Fix. There is a Canadian alternative called Frock Box which uses the same model, but offers only women’s clothing at a cost of $25/month.

Overall, Stitch Fix may be a great service to try if you’re looking to expand your wardrobe, try new styles or reduce time spent shopping. However, you may be disappointed if you’re looking for the lowest possible prices on clothes.

Personal Shopper by Prime Wardrobe is Amazon’s effort to be like Stitch Fix. Through Personal Shopper by Prime Wardrobe, you pay $4.99 per month for personalized styling from Amazon.

Better for style on a budget

The Stylogic clothing subscription service felt similar to Stitch Fix, but a bit more accessible. The prices were lower, and the service offers a wider range of women’s sizes, from 12-36. As with Stitch Fix, I filled out a style profile and linked my Pinterest style board for inspiration.

Take up to three days to decide what you want to buy and what to send back. You’ll only be charged for the items you choose to keep when you check out online or through the free Stitch Fix app. The $20 styling fee will automatically be applied as credit toward any items you purchase. You will have a $100 credit!

Stitch Fix has more affordable options, and the styling is more likely to challenge you or expand your horizons. Daily Look has consistent quality and curates a selection of great brands that will strengthen any wardrobe.

The clothes can be costly.

Stitch Fix claims the average price of items is around $55, but that the items can cost anywhere between $20 and $400. You are able to set price ranges for each category, but that doesn’t mean your stylist will always stick to that number.

You can reschedule or cancel a Fix shipment from your home page anytime before your Stylist starts working on it. Find instructions for how to manage the arrival for on-demand shipments as well as automatic deliveries below.

You can keep and wear the items for as long as you like (but you‘ll be charged on the same day every month, so to get the most value, you should return the Tote at least once per month). To receive another Tote, you must send back the items in the pre-paid return bag.

With Stitch Fix, users don’t go shopping for their clothes. Professional stylists do the job for them and the personal shopping service ships the new clothes to their door. The stylists aren’t working on their own, though; they’re using artificial intelligence (A.I.) and a team of about 60 data scientists.

Returns must be made within 30 days of purchase.

Trunk Club has a fantastic selection of higher-end clothes and accessories, and their styling options feel more personalized. On the other hand, Stitch Fix has more affordable options and reflects the latest fashion trends. I’ll be comparing the two in more detail here, but Trunk Club’s the definite winner in my eyes.

Stitch Fix’s top competitors include Ascena Retail Group, Le Tote, Wantable, Trunk Club and DAILYLOOK.

Botton Line: But even without these factors in mind, Stitch Fix is the clear winner. Stitch Fix’s A-plus rating reveals far fewer complaints and problematic issues as compared to Nadine West, whose complaint history gives us a pause to recommending the service for anyone.
