Minecraft servers can be a very profitable business.

Hosting a server

The default multiplayer software is free of charge and is available by Mojang Studios for Windows, macOS, and Unix-like systems (Linux, BSD). See the Minecraft multiplayer server tutorial and Mojang Studios’ Minecraft multiplayer server download page for help.

You can also setup a cloud server starting at $5/month, but most businesses would spend about $40/month to have adequate resources. Pretty much any computer can be used as a web server, provided it can connect to a network and run web server software. Since a web server can be quite simple and there are free and open source web servers available, in practice, any device can act as a web server.

It’s relatively easy. “Hosting your own website” sounds like a massive challenge. However, if you can follow instructions, you can host your website with relative ease. You have several options, but one of the best is to use a virtual private server running Ubuntu.

Set up a local web server on Windows

Note: XAMPP is available for Linux and Mac OS X, too. Download the Windows version of XAMPP and begin the installation. Execute the installer when prompted. You can select only Apache if all you need is a web server.

Yes, you do need a license if you want to run a FiveM server. The good news is that servers with up to 32 players are free, so you won’t have to pay anything. Servers for 33-64 players require a $15 monthly fee, while 65-128 players – $50.

FiveM is free for all players that have bought Grand Theft Auto V. This is important as the mod will ask for your GTA login information to know if you own the original copy of the game. Your information is safe with FiveM as it will only be sent to Rockstar Social Club services.

FiveM is a modification framework for GTA V, allowing you to play multiplayer on customized dedicated servers. The short answer is no, you will not get banned from GTA:O. if you use/have FiveM installed.

Nope! FiveM does not interact with the Rockstar Online Services other than to validate your game copy the first time you launch it. This validation emulates the game’s interaction, and can not be detected by Rockstar.

FiveM is safe to play on, you can even switch between FiveM and vanilla GTAO and you’ll be fine. The advantage of steam version is higher security (someone would need to get inside two accounts instead of one) and for some people it’s just good to have their while library in one place.
