Talia Jackson was born on 28 August 2001, in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, the older sister of actor Armani Jackson. Talia is an actress, best known for her work in the Netflix series “Family Reunion” in which she plays the character, Jade McKellan. She also appeared in the television movie “Raised By Wolves”.
The Wealth of Talia Jackson
As of mid-2020, Talia Jackson’s net worth is estimated to be close to $300,000, earned through a successful career in acting. Her breakthrough in acting led to a significant payday, and more opportunities would soon come her way. She’s also done some singing, as well as commercial work during her career.
Early Life and Career Beginnings
At a young age, Talia aspired to a career in the entertainment industry, and was supported strongly by her mother. With her mother’s help, the two went looking for various auditions and possible professional roles. She actually registered as an actress when she was seven, appeared in a few local commercials to start with, and also signed up for independent films. Eventually, her younger brother followed suit, as he also grew interested in a career in acting.
Things at home weren’t going too well as all of this was happening, as her parents developed a rift.
Though the reasons for their eventual divorce were unknown, they eventually separated and the children mainly lived with their mother, but as a part of the divorce settlement frequently visited their father during weekends. Around this time one of her earliest projects was as a part of Disney English, in which she filmed various shorts. The company is a subsidiary of Disney Publishing Worldwide, and its videos are intended for the Chinese audience. They also release lessons intended for other countries such as those in Europe, with their videos being typified by their storytelling approach.
Singing and Continued Work
Jackson also had talent in singing, and for some time she began working as a background singer on several tours. She typically had this type of work during the Christmas season, and joined the tours of David Foster several times. David is a record producer best known for helping develop numerous talents such as Michael Buble, Madonna, Seal, The Corrs, and Christina Aguillera.
She was with him during his many tours with the tenor Andrea Bocelli, known for his capability to sing various classical songs, despite being blind for most of his life. He is considered one of the most beautiful and one of the most successful singers of all time, especially in the classical genre.
While Talia toured with big names, she didn’t gain a lot of attention herself. Nevertheless, she continued to pursue acting work, though she was getting frustrated as she had yet to achieve a breakthrough.
Rise to Fame – Family Reunion
In 2017, Talia was cast in the pilot for the television series “Raised By Wolves”; it failed to gain any traction, though it later resurfaced as an upcoming television series for HBO Max, but she is no longer part of a new project headed by Ridley Scott. This new version follows two androids as they raise human children on a new planet.
Talia also endeavored to release her first single called “I’m Not Jealous”, however, things turned around for her when she was cast in the Netflix series “Family Reunion”. The television series was created by Meg DeLoatch, and follows the story of a family of six who move from Seattle, Washington State to Columbus, Georgia to attend a family reunion, following which the family decides to stay there to be closer to their family in the area. Other stars of the show include Tia Mowry, Anthony Alabi, and Loretta Devine, and recurring characters include Lexi Underwood, Telma Hopkins, and Richard Roundtree. The show first aired for 20 episodes in season one, and in 2019 a second season was announced.
A holiday special was also filmed and released for early-2020. The show has had mixed reviews, though it remains to be seen if it will continue its run for the long term.
Recent Endeavors
Thanks to her popularity on the Netflix series, more people came to know Jackson, and began following her on several platforms, especially on social media. However, not all the attention was positive, as she attracted a lot of criticism, particularly for her character’s hair – she wore something a wig, and with criticisms growing, she felt the need to address the issue. She also mentioned that she was very uncomfortable with wearing the wig for the premiere, but it had to be done as her hair was badly damaged from preparation before they started filming.
However, the hair would later be used for storyline purposes, making it all good.
In recent months, she’s been busier online, especially since most of the world is in quarantine due to the coronavirus. She recently spoke out as the Black Lives Matter movement and protests continue underway, especially in the US. She admitted that she comes from a bi-racial family, with her father often being harassed by police, with her mother being the one to witness most of it. They were often bullied by the police, who didn’t seem to believe her father’s social status.
Personal Life
Talia is single, and she hasn’t been involved in any romantic relationships that are known to the public. She is still young at 19, and focused on developing her career so it is unlikely that we’ll hear anything of a boyfriend until sometime in the future. During her free time, she enjoys working with various charitable organizations. She is an advocate of rescuing animals, whether marine, farm, or pets such as dogs. She has also collaborated with the Global Lyme Alliance to help spread awareness of Lyme Disease, and to help raise funds for its treatment.
