Who is Loey Lane?
Loey Lane was born in Georgia, USA on 20 May 1993 – her zodiac sign is Taurus and she holds American nationality. She is a YouTuber, social media star and a plus-size model, perhaps known best for her YouTube channel onto which she mostly uploads beauty and vlogging videos.
Early life and education. When did she gain weight?
Loey was raised as an only child in Georgia by her father who was a high school teacher, and her mother who was a nurse at a local hospital. Loey has claimed that she lived in a haunted house, as at the age of two she talked to a dead man whom she referred to as The Colonel.

She was a bit overweight while attending elementary school, and after being bullied by her peers for this, Loey put herself on a strict diet which eventually led to her suffering from the eating disorder anorexia nervosa, which made her puke nearly all the food she would, eat and stop enjoying eating completely. After fighting anorexia for several months, Loey returned to eating a lot of food as she did in the past, and made peace with the fact that she might be bigger than other girls.
After Loey matriculated from a local high school in 2011, she enrolled at a college from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2015, thus becoming a nurse.
Career as a social media star
Loey launched her YouTube channel on 24 February 2013, and has since gathered over 2.1 million subscribers and more than 280 million views of all her videos combined. She tends to upload at least two videos each week, and two of her most popular are “Why Fat Girls Shouldn’t Wear Bikinis” which has been viewed over 14 million times since 15 May 2015, and “Why Men Hate Fat Women” which has been watched close to four million times since 15 June 2014. Because of her empowering videos, Loey was rewarded an IT Girl Contest Award in 2015.
She is active on various other social media networks such as Instagram, with her account followed by over 650,000 people, while she’s uploaded more than 3,600 pictures, most of which feature her overweight body. Loey has been active on Twitter since July 2011, and has gathered over 160,000 followers, while she tends to tweet at least once a day – her Facebook account numbers close to 600,000 followers.
Loey is also a singer, and as for her modelling career, she appeared on the cover page of the magazine “Skorch” in their February/March issue in 2015.
She is a TV personality too, having appeared in a single 2018 episode of the documentary series “50 Amazing Facts to Blow Your Mind” hosted by Matthew Santoro and Rhett & Link, and in 2019 in the episode “The Haunting of Loey Lane” of the adventure horror comedy series “BuzzFeed Unsolved: Supernatural”. Loey is also a writer, as she published her book “Haunted in Hollywood: The Adventures of Loey Lane” in October 2017 through Adaptive Studious – the book follows all of her experiences with ghosts and haunted places.
Husband and divorce
Loey met her now ex-husband Tyler, while attending elementary school, and they started dating a year before enrolling at the same high school. They broke up many times while dating for several years, before deciding to marry when Loey was 19 and Tyler was 21 – she then agreed to move with him to Kansas. It is widely believed that Tyler was abusive towards Loey because of her weight, and after he joined the Army, in 2016 she left their home, filed for divorce, and returned to her parents’ house – according to the rumors circulating the internet, she and Tayler haven’t met again since then.
There are also rumors claiming Loey to be lesbian or bisexual – she hasn’t commented on her sexuality, but that rumor seems groundless.
Loey hasn’t talked about any other men she might have dated, and as of October 2020, she is single, was once married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
Loey’s number one hobby is talking about paranormal activities with people who might have had a chance to see or talk to a ghost.
She likes to travel, and has been all around the US to attend various events as well as to speak and encourage larger girls to love their bodies and accept themselves just the way they are.
She is a bit of a shopaholic who goes shopping for clothes multiple times each week – she often buys bikinis and loves wearing them. Many people have attacked and insulted Loey on the internet, claiming that she shouldn’t wear bikinis nor reveal her body which is disgusting and that she shouldn’t ‘spread obesity’ – Loey uploaded a video onto her YouTube channel, reading out all the hateful comments written about her.
In her spare time and mostly late at night, she likes to watch movies starring actors and actresses Jim Carrey, Tom Hanks and Anne Hathaway, such as “Liar Liar”, “Sleepless in Seattle” and “Les Miserables”.
Age, height and net worth
Loey’s age is 27. She has long brown hair and brown eyes, her height is 5ft 4ins (1.62m) and she weighs around 200lbs (92kgs).
As of October 2020, her net worth has been estimated at close to $500,000.
