As a long-time Pico Rivera resident, Jacki and her husband Gilbert started the nonprofit organization in 2013 to assist local students and families in the El Rancho Unified School District in pursuing and achieving their ambitions of receiving a college degree.
Several top-tier university-focused preparation programs have been brought to El Rancho High School under Jacki’s direction, providing over 500 students access to crucial college-bound advising programs each year.
Jacki’s work does not stop at high school; rather, it begins with El Rancho’s youngest kids.
Every fall, Jacki conducts the Generation 1st Degree- Pico Rivera Kindergarten Book Giveaway to encourage young children to develop early literacy abilities.
Since 2011, the yearly event has distributed over 5,000 books to kindergartners in Pico Rivera to cultivate a love of reading. Finally, encourage and motivate the youngsters to dream large.
