Fritz Coleman is a weathercaster for KNBC-TV in Los Angeles, California. He was born on May 27, 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He studied radio, television, and film at Salem College in West Virginia and Temple University in Philadelphia after growing up in Radnor, Pennsylvania. Because he lacks a meteorology degree, he works as a weather reporter rather than a meteorologist, as do many other well-known weather anchors. This aspect may go against popular belief. For numerous years, he worked as a stand-up comedian and disc jockey, as well as a radio personality at WBEN and later
WKBW in Buffalo, New York. In 1980, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian. He started working at KNBC as a weekend weatherman in 1982 and has been the weekday weatherman since 1984. The Reception and It’s Me! Dad! are two one-man theatre plays he has written and performed. For his work with KNBC’s 4 Our Planet, a children’s programme, he got the 2004 EMA Community Service Award. In 1993, he played a supporting part in The Case of the Telltale Talk Show Host, one of Raymond Burr’s final Perry Mason television films. Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie, a “alternative film” companion to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, gave him a “thanks” credit. Coleman also did the daily weather (in addition to KNBC) for San Diego’s NBC affiliate, KNSD, from 2009 to 2011.
