Becoming CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Andy Jassy said in a letter to employees on Tuesdays that his role was to assume the position of CEO in the third quarter and Bezos to become the Chairman of the Board of Amazon.
Amazon stock rose 225.233% under Bezos from its IPO price to Tuesday’s end, taking its market cap to $1.7 billion. In the meantime, Bezos also received huge benefits: according to Bloomberg, the net’s value reached $194.9 billion. Most of the wealth of Bezos comes from Amazon, which has 53.2 million shares, or 10.6% of outstanding shares.
Amazon’s income has been increasing from $148 million in 1997 to USD 386 billion for fiscal 2020, with the Fortune 500 increasing, from its launch in 2002 at No 492 to No 2 in 2020. Since 1997 the Firm has also increased its revenue.
