The Skarsgård family name has become synonymous with talent and versatility in the world of entertainment. This Swedish clan boasts not one, not two, but a total of eight children, with six of them pursuing careers in acting. From iconic roles to up-and-coming stars, here’s everything you need to know about the Skarsgård siblings.
Stellan Skarsgård: The Patriarch
At the helm of this talented family is Stellan Skarsgård, a seasoned actor with a career spanning over five decades. His filmography includes everything from critically acclaimed movies like “Good Will Hunting” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” to gripping series like “Chernobyl” and the epic “Dune.” However, younger audiences may recognize him as Professor Erik Selvig from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly in the unforgettable “Thor: The Dark World.” Stellan is set to reprise his role as the menacing Baron Harkonnen in “Dune: Part 2,” keeping us on the edge of our seats once more.
Alexander Skarsgård: The Heartthrob
Alexander Skarsgård, aged 46, is often credited with igniting our fascination with the Skarsgård family. He became a household name as the charismatic bad boy vampire, Eric Northman, in HBO’s “True Blood.” Whether you were #TeamBill or #TeamEric, his portrayal left an indelible mark. Alexander is not married, but he recently welcomed his first child with girlfriend Tuva Novotny. He currently graces our screens in HBO’s “Succession” and starred in indie film “Infinity Pool” and “The Northman” in 2022.
Gustaf Skarsgård: The Underrated Sibling
At 42, Gustaf Skarsgård may not be the oldest, but he’s certainly made a name for himself. Known for his roles in “Vikings” and as Karl Strand in “Westworld,” Gustaf has carved a niche as a versatile actor. While not currently married, he has one child from a previous relationship. You can catch him alongside Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in “Air,” a biopic tracing Nike’s shoe deal with Michael Jordan.
Bill Skarsgård: The Moment
Bill Skarsgård, aged 32, is known for sending shivers down our spines with his knack for playing unsettling characters. From “It” to “Deadpool 2” and even a Marvel movie, Bill’s quick rise in Hollywood has made him a captivating and slightly disconcerting presence. He’s in a long-term relationship with actor Alida Morberg, and you can soon see him facing off against Keanu Reeves in “John Wick: Chapter 4.”
Valter Skarsgård: The Up-and-Comer
Valter Skarsgård, aged 27, strikes a balance between Alexander and Bill. With his effortless cool vibes, he’s gained the nickname “Twitter King.” While you may have seen him in Swedish shows and films, he also appeared in BBC’s “Black Lake” and the horror thriller “Lords of Chaos” in 2018. Currently starring in a Swedish crime drama, Valter is set to play NHL great Börje Salming in an upcoming hockey biopic.
Sam Skarsgård: The Doctor
Unlike his acting siblings, Sam Skarsgård, aged 40, is a doctor, working in an ICU. Alexander and Bill have openly admired their brother’s heroic work, despite making more money in Hollywood. Sam is married and leads a remarkable life dedicated to saving lives.
Eija Skarsgård: The Model and Only Daughter
Eija Skarsgård, aged 31, is the only daughter in the family and embraced modeling as her career path. She’s known for reminding her brothers, “Girls are always right,” from a young age. Eija is married to Zeke Tastas and maintains a close relationship with her brothers, particularly Valter.
Ossian Skarsgård: The Teen
At just 13 years old, Ossian Skarsgård is already making waves in the entertainment industry. He starred alongside Bill in 2022’s “Burn All My Letters,” marking the beginning of what promises to be a promising career.
Kolbjörn Skarsgård: The Youngest
Kolbjörn Skarsgård, aged 10, is the youngest of the Skarsgård siblings. Bill has taken him under his wing, and Kolbjörn’s first role was alongside his older brother in Netflix’s 2022 miniseries “Clark,” portraying a younger version of the titular character.
The Skarsgård family’s unique blend of talents and interests has firmly established them as a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood. With a doctor, models, seasoned actors, and promising newcomers, this family continues to leave a lasting legacy in the world of entertainment.
