However, the John Dutton Sr we met in 1883 is a child, implying that he would have been around 120 years old when he died, which occurred not long after Evelyn Dutton’s death in 1997.

Tim McGraw, widely known for his appearances in The Blind Side, Friday Night Lights, Tomorrowland, and 2010’s Country Song, takes on the role of James Dutton in 1883.
